My carer arrives to help me get ready for the day ahead. I like to try and wash myself every morning but do need some support to reach my back and lower legs.

Twice per week I am supervised to have a bath. I love to soak in the water it helps my old bones! Once I am dressed my carer helps me to prepare breakfast - I can manage most things but struggle with anything heavy. I am a little forgetful so my visiting carer prompts me to take my medication.

I love chatting to my carer; it brightens the start to my day.

Every Monday I go to the shops and for tea and scones with my friends. This is the highlight of my week. I am unable to do this alone as I get breathless walking so I require a carer to push me in my wheelchair and help with the shopping bags.

Carol comes every week, she is now like one of my friends, she gets involved in the conversations and has coffee with us. After coffee we head to the post office where I collect my pension, and then to the shops to pick up a few essentials. When we get home carol helps me put the shopping away.

I have a Comfort Call carer visit me once a week to help keep my house clean. My doctor has told me not to undertake heavy tasks, so while the carer is hovering I run a duster around. She cleans my bathroom, kitchen and will iron my bedding before helping me change the sheets.

I have a short visit every tea time to again help me with my medication. The carer will make me a cup of tea and a snack if I need, washing up any dishes that I have used throughout the day, and emptying my rubbish bins. On a Friday my carer brings me fish and chips from the local chip shop - they are always delicious!

My daily visits end when my care comes at night to help me with my medication. The carer will help me into my nightwear, leave a glass of water by my bed and turn back the bed sheets for me. I like to stay up and read so the carer ensures I am safe and secure before she leaves.
